With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, the season is among us… Parade season that is and, the country’s biggest float fanfare, the Macy’s Day parade kicks it all off, followed by the Rose Parade and with the third largest parade in the country, the MLK Grande Parade carrying the baton into next year.
This year marks a milestone for the annual MLK Grande Parade, celebrating its 25th year marching in the name of the lauded civil rights leader.
The Co-Grand Marshals for the 25th Annual MLK Grande Parade-Houston are Grammy Award Winner Kim Gagne, Steve Harvey Show Producer and award winning gospel Recording Artist Brian Courtney Wilson.
300,000 Spectators are expected at the annual MLK Grande Parade which consists of 15 Parade floats & 30 Marching bands. The 25th Annual MLK Grande Parade Is Scheduled For January 21, 2019 Originating In Houston’s Midtown Beginning Promptly @ 10:00AM (CST).
In keeping with traditions, the organization will honor and salute the immediate past Co-Grand Marshals, Grammy Award winner Yolanda Adams and Former Heavy Weight Boxing Champion George Foreman.
Special recognition will be given to the architect of the MLK Holiday-Texas, The Honorable Ronald Wilson as well as immediate past honorees the Honorable Bill King, Former Mayor Of Kemah, TX , Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump, And Attorney Ricky Anderson

This year’s theme is “It Takes a Village” and in celebration of the MLK Grande parade’s 25th anniversary, the parade will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Death Of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by having representation from every state and U.S. territories and will feature fifty (50) nationally recognized performing groups lead by the University Of Houston marching band and the Langston University marching band and twenty five (25) parade floats/motorized displays.
