Floyd Mayweather, the undefeated current boxing champ who was recently sued for domestic violence, spoke in opposition Ray Rice being dropped by Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL at a press conference this week.
“They had said that they had suspended him for two games. Whether they saw the tape or not, I truly believe a person should stick to their word. If you tell me you’re going to do something, do what you say you’re going to do.”
Arguably the most hated champion in boxing history, Mayweather went as far to compare Rice knocking out his then girlfriend Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City casino elevator to incidents that take place in homes across the country, saying “”I think there’s a lot worse things that go on in other peoples’ households … It’s just not caught on video, if that’s safe to say.”
Rice’s contract was terminated this week after TMZ published video of the attack that occurred in February. Prior, the NFL had only issued a two game suspension.
There is doubt that Rice appreciates Mayweather’s unsolicited support considering Mayweather has faced multiple allegations of domestic violence and served two months in prison for related offenses in 2012.
