A&R Report: Tristan Price – R&B’s Newest Voice

tristan-price

Looking for something new and fresh in R&B.  Tristan Price marks a return real artistry and talent at a time when most of the genre’s artists rely heavily on pitch correction and Pro Tool plugins.

When did you start performing? My first performance was at the age of 12, it was at the Red Sea in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Here, artists in the city with a good buzz were offered the opportunity to showcase their talent, draw in a crowd, plus be able to sell tickets. I sold out tickets and put on a great show.

Name some of the artists who have inspired or influenced you. I have been inspired by artists like Chris Brown, Usher, Drake and my Dad whom has recorded, wrote and produced music for various artists. My dad also helped guide me into developing my own unique sound and has taught me to be true to my work as a writer and even bought me my first recording mic.

How would you describe your style? “Follow my lead” is how you feel when you listen to my new album. My lyrics are captivating, intimate and every song, one after another, takes you on a journey full of excitement. Overall, my style and sound would be described as riveting, because I am versatile with transitioning from R&B to Pop to Soul to trap-R&B. I also strive to make my lyrics very connecting and intimate. I have been compared to as a modern day Marvin Gaye.

What separates you from other artists? My storytelling ability through my lyrics is ultimately what separates me from any other artist. I’ve been told that at the young age of 12, it was easy to notice that my writing ability was ahead of its time.

Do you have any major offers on the table? I am currently working as an independent artist and would like to work with well-known record labels that consist of many artists that have inspired me throughout my career. Labels like Universal, RCA, Atlantic and Epic records, just to name a few.

What advice would you offer other aspiring artists? My advice is to stay confident, consistent, independent and to challenge yourself. Try every new thing possible to fully know your music, who you are and give yourself a chance to make it. Take time to reflect and see what other people see in you.

Any shout outs? I would like to take this time to thank my father, my mother, and my closest friends for always supporting and contributing to anything I need for my music. I would also like to thank my fans that have stuck with me since day one, I am so proud of them for pushing me and my music to where I am today.
