Son of Hip Hop’s Rev Run, Diggy Simmons is making a comeback after releasing his single “It Is What Is.”
It has been six years since the young rapper has dropped a music project. His most memorable release being Unexpected Arrival with track “4 Letter Word.”
While it has been no question if Simmons has the skills of his father and industry talent of his uncle Russell Simmons, the 23-year-old still battled with the insecurity of being good enough.
A day before he released his latest single, he shared with Instagram his reservations and why he took a hiatus:
“I haven’t released a music project in 6 years. All due to overthinking my ideas, my OCD, being too invested in the unknown and the fear of an uncertain outcome. For years, I let my irrationalities and the negative perceptions of other overcome what I perceived of myself.”
Many people encouraged Simmons to keep pushing and expressed that they were proud of his courageous efforts.
Then, Simmons released the video. He was fled with tons of approval. Jacob Latimore commented “Amazing bro,” and Empire’s Serayah called the work “Iconic.”
Simmons’s newest album is set to drop soon.
