Accused child molester R. Kelly is finally facing charges from marrying then 15-year-old R&B singer Aaliyah in 1994.
The charge is part of bigger 12-count racketeering case filed yesterday in New York City and stems from his role in helping her acquire fake identification to obtain a marriage license.
On top of his own personal actions, the government appears to building a RICO case due to his alleged use of various subordinates to orchestrate crimes including extortion and child pornography.
According to Wikipedia, ” The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.”
While the Aaliyah related false ID charge would likely be outside of the statute of limitation, R. Kelly can still be charged if done as part of ongoing criminal activity,
