This fall, the city of Atlanta will be the home the first inaugural Streetwear Fashion Week #SWFW that will include a multitude and diverse group of many of the most talented designers in the country. The fashion week events will begin on September 2nd and run through September 5th.
“Our goal is to show the art and fashion behind streetwear while also using our platform for a cause. We want to change the perspective and show that streetwear can be also be high fashion. Everyone pretty much is a part of streetwear culture whether they’re artists, skaters, students, or teachers. It does not matter who you are, where you are from or what you do, as long as you love and respect the culture, you are welcome,” explains the promoters.
Outside of the captivating fashion shows, there will be a wide range of other events taking place throughout the 4-day schedule including talent shows, panels, meets-n-greets, contests, and power-shoots.
A model casting will be held on June 12th at 5965 Peachtree Corners E, Norcross, Georgia 30071 from 11am to 3pm. Contact swfwmodelcasting@gmail.com for details.
The event will also spread the word in support of mental health awareness, which extremely important in our communities, now more than ever.
Through their partnership with the nonprofit organization Bringing Us Together, SWFW organizers hope to eradicate the stigma that sometimes hinders people from seeking the help and guidance they need. The organization also offers young parents assistance with housing, child care assistance, mental
health, and legal aid.
