The Boston Celtics Are Clearly On a Mission After Demolishing Phoenix Suns

“None of this means anything if we don’t hang a banner.”

Despite a blowout win in Phoenix, Jayson Tatum is not satisfied. And he, and the BOSTON CELTICS won’t be until they get back to the NBA Finals, and hang Banner 18. This past Wednesday evening, the Celtics didn’t just win a game against the number one seed in the Western Conference – they obliterated the competition. It was more than just a chip on their shoulders, after losing to the Phoenix Suns in their last two match-ups, the Celtics were not going to let their streak continue.

“I think everybody in the locker room understands what we’re trying to do,” continued Tatum. “We realize that we’ve got the best record; we’re 21-5; with that comes the decision every night to play the right way, to play as hard as we can on both ends.”

And that’s exactly what they did Wednesday night, and nearly in every game since the 2022-2023 season commenced.

“I would say we’re playing angry, we’re having a lot of fun. But the goal is still the same – to get back to the finals, and get over that hump.”

Prior to Wednesday’s showdown between the League’s top teams, this was billed as a match-up to “look out for.” “The conference-leading teams were going to put on a show,” was the narrative. Well, needless to say, the BOSTON CELTICS gave a helluva performance.

The visiting Celtics came out the gates with a 31-21 lead in the first quarter, and then never let up in the second quarter, bombarding the Suns with non-stop, efficient offense, extending their lead to 69-42 at the half.

To close out the second half, and the game, the Celtics had to stay locked in. And that, they did. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown executed a balanced attack, contributing 25 points, each. While Grant Williams, Luke Kornet, and Malcolm Brogdon, recorded double figures and five other Celtics players contributed. At one point in the second half, the lead was up to 45 points! The Celtics secured the win with a 125-98 victory, serving the Suns their largest regular-season home loss – and with Chris Paul and Devin Booker in the line-up at that!

It’s clear that the BOSTON CELTICS are on a mission this season. And right now, sitting at the top of the NBA standings, we can only project continued elevation. Sure, it’s just the beginning of the regular season, and they’ll surely be tested in the post-season, but safe to say, this team is elite af.
