In 2008, we had no idea how HUGE of a musical hit “Lollipop” would be when Lil Wayne dropped it as a part of his “Tha Carter III” album. There was something so magnetic and infectious about the production, Lil Wayne’s flow and delivery, and of course, the catchy hook, and bars. Now, fourteen years later, Lil Wayne celebrates the single amassing over one BILLION streams, and a certified RIAA Diamond plaque. Taking to social media, Weezy showed off his new plaque, respectfully, and the reactions were epically sweet.
“Lollipop” is undoubtedly the iconic rapper’s biggest single, holding down the #1 Billboard Hot 100 spot for FIVE non-consecutive weeks and earning him a GRAMMY for “Best Rap Song.” Recently, the single has enjoyed a renaissance as the song emerged as the #1 trending sound on TikTok’s US Top Tracks, and vaulted to #1 on the Viral chart. Weezy also recently performed the single on Amazon Music Live hosted by 2 Chainz. Needless to say, it’s a timeless record.

The “greatest rapper alive” is back, like he never left, and it’s only going to continue upward in the incoming year.
