The Vandross’ Estate Celebrates 20th Anniversary of “Dance With My Father

June is Black Music Month and today the estate of legendary singer/songwriter Luther Vandross is celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of his most poignant songs, “Dance With My Father.”

Originally release on this day, June 12th, 2003, the song is a beautiful tribute to the remarkable relationship between a father (and father figures) and child and is widely considered to be one of the greatest of its kind.

In honor of this special event, fans around the world can now pay homage to dads starting today through Father’s Day.

Here is how you can participate:

1. Visit LutherVandross.com (scroll down on site) to generate the “What My Father Taught Me” meme with personal memories of your father (or father figure), inspired by “Dance With My Father.” The photo format is entirely up to you (solo photo of him or a photo of you with him).

2. If you are comfortable, include a photo of him or from your past with your father – an image that captures the essence of your relationship.

3. Attach the :15 second clip of the Dance With My Father song to the post.

4. Share this on the Instagram social media platform between Monday, June 12th and Father’s Day, June 18th, using the hashtag #DanceWithMyFather20.
