The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has revealed the distinguished individuals to be honored at the 15th annual ASCAP Women Behind The Music event, scheduled for Thursday, November 16 in Atlanta.
This year’s celebration will pay tribute to Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Summer Walker, Amber Grimes, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of LVRN, and Sammye Scott, the Senior Director of A&R at Atlantic Records.
Hosted by ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul department, the ASCAP Women Behind the Music event spotlights remarkable women within the music community, recognizing not only songwriters and artists but also influential executives, such as managers, attorneys, label executives, and music publishers.
Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP’s Senior Vice President of Membership and Executive Director of the ASCAP Foundation, expressed the significance of this event, stating, “ASCAP Women Behind The Music is a particularly meaningful occasion for us as it allows us to acknowledge exceptionally talented women who have left an indelible mark through their artistic contributions and leadership. It also provides an invaluable opportunity for our community to come together in person. We take pride in continuing this initiative to inspire women to pursue careers in music, whether they are creative talents or executives.”
George-Middleton will be present at the event to extend her congratulations to the 2023 honorees.
