Jacksonville Police Detain Four Suspects in Murder of Rapper Foolio

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bodycam footage released Monday by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shows officers detaining three suspects in the murder of rapper Foolio. The video captures Sean Gathright, Alicia Andrews, and Isaiah Chance Jr. being taken into custody during a downpour in Jacksonville, Fla. This footage comes on the heels of a Tampa Police press conference announcing the arrests.

Gathright, Andrews, and Chance Jr. face charges of premeditated first-degree murder with the use of a firearm, among other offenses. Police also released footage of the shooting that took Foolio’s life. The video shows masked gunmen firing multiple rounds at the rapper’s car in the parking lot of a Tampa Holiday Inn.

On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the capture of Rashad Murphy, 30, who was tracked to an apartment complex in Jacksonville. Law enforcement and SWAT units forced Murphy out after an hourslong standoff, leading to his arrest on murder charges in the killing of Foolio, whose real name is Julio Foolio.

Authorities are still searching for one additional suspect, Davion Murphy, 27, who is believed to be involved in the shooting. He is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. Police allege that Davion Murphy is also a shooter alongside Gathright, while Chance Jr. and Andrews are alleged to have served as the getaway drivers.

Foolio, who was celebrating his 26th birthday, was shot and killed on June 23 in the hotel parking lot in Tampa. The rapper and three other men were ambushed as they drove through the lot. The three passengers were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Foolio was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and search for the remaining suspect.
