ATLANTA — In a heartfelt plea shared on social media, Aisha Taylor Issah, owner of The Sistah Shop, revealed the dire financial straits facing the Atlanta-based retail outlet. Issah expressed urgency, stating the business must raise $50,000 within thirty days to stave off closure at its Atlantic Station location.

Founded as an extension of the Sistahs in Business Expo, The Sistah Shop proudly showcases over 100 brands owned by Black women entrepreneurs. Specializing in beauty products, apparel, books, and stationery, it serves as a vital platform for these businesses to reach consumers.

“In one of the hardest videos I’ve ever had to record, I must share that The Sistah Shop is in jeopardy,” Issah disclosed in an emotional Instagram post. “As a leader and business owner, admitting our struggles is never easy.”

Facing mounting challenges exacerbated by current economic conditions, The Sistah Shop had previously closed its New Jersey location earlier this year due to escalating rent demands. Despite efforts to boost visibility through paid, organic, and influencer-driven marketing strategies, financial pressures persist.

To rally support, The Sistah Shop has launched the #SaveTheSistahShop campaign, offering three exclusive t-shirt designs for purchase. Proceeds directly contribute to the $50,000 goal crucial for sustaining operations. Each shirt, priced at $28 plus taxes and shipping, is available in sizes up to 3X.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of encouragement and solidarity since announcing our plight,” Issah shared. “This isn’t just about our business—it’s about preserving a vital space for Black women entrepreneurs.”

As messages of support pour in from fellow business owners and community members, Issah remains optimistic. “While we face uncertainty, I trust in God’s plan,” she affirmed.

For those eager to assist, options include purchasing merchandise, making tax-deductible donations, and spreading awareness about The Sistah Shop’s campaign. Issah emphasizes that every contribution helps sustain not just her business, but a critical avenue for Black women’s economic empowerment.
