The 33rd annual AIDS Walk Atlanta Music Festival and 5K Run, originally planned for Sept. 28, has been rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 19, after Hurricane Helene disrupted the initial date. The event, presented by AHF Pharmacy and Wells Fargo, will feature Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil’ Kim as the headliner.

The event is organized by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the world’s largest nonprofit HIV/AIDS healthcare organization, which raises over $1 million annually for 13 Atlanta-based HIV/AIDS service groups. Past performers have included Ashanti, Myá, Ludacris, Monica, and others.

This marks the second time Lil’ Kim has joined forces with AHF to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. In 2021, she headlined the Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale. Her return highlights AHF’s ongoing efforts to educate the public about the importance of HIV prevention, testing, and treatment.

“We cherish this annual opportunity to bring together thousands of individuals from across the region to raise critical funds for 13 worthy organizations and raise awareness of the impact of HIV and AIDS on our local community,” said Dr. Felicia Ivey, AHF’s Georgia regional director. Despite the delay, the excitement surrounding the event remains high.

The walk and music festival will take place at Piedmont Park, with gates opening at 9 a.m. The day will feature live music, a 5K run, and booths from various health and wellness organizations. The event also serves as a reminder of the progress made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, while highlighting the ongoing challenges in preventing and treating the disease.

Benefiting organizations include A Vision For Hope, ANIZ, AID Atlanta, and several other local groups. To register for the event, create a team, or join a team, visit aidswalkatlanta.org.
