“A Thousand And One” Harlem Screening, A Red Carpet Recap

“A THOUSAND AND ONE” follows unapologetic and free-spirited, Inez, played by Teyana Taylor, who decides to take matters into her own hands. Set in New York City, Inez takes on the foster care system by kidnapping her own six-year-old son, Terry. Igniting a chain of events, the film follows the secret life of mother and son as their story of identity and stability unfolds.

Director, and writer, A.V. Rockwell, does an amazing job of translating real-life scenarios into a masterful film.

Ahead of its March 31st release, Urban Magazine’s own, Maria Myraine, along with artist, Lenaah Lee, attended the film’s private screening last night. Located inside Harlem’s AMC Magic Johnson Theater, the film’s stars hit the red carpet, along with a few celebrity guests who made surprise appearances. From A$AP Ferg, Maino, Alicia Keys (who snuck past the media line), and more, all gathered for the evening. Fans were also allowed to watch red carpet arrivals inside as the evening unfolded.

What truly struck a chord with us was how deeply passionate everyone was about the film’s subject matter. For those who have experiences with the foster care system, this movie will most likely tug on some heartstrings. Staying authentic to real-life scenarios, with a dash of filmmaking magic, “A Thousand And One” is relatable af. At the foundation of the movie’s storyline, is the gritty, New York City, you-can-make-it-here-you-can-make-it-anywhere, mindset.

Watch Maria Myraine’s recap of the evening below, along with her’s and Lenaah’s exclusives with some of the film’s stars.
