Brandon Miller, a University of Alabama basketball star, is facing allegations in his connection to Darius Miles, a former teammate, and Michael “Buzz” Davis. The latter used a gun, that was provided by Miles, to kill Jamea Harris near the university’s campus.
According to reports, a detective, by the name of Branden Culpepper testified this past week in court. In his testimony, he shared that Miles had texted Miller, telling him to get his gun and to bring it to his location. Miles then allegedly told Davis, “The heat is in the hat. There’s one in the head.”
Miller has not been charged as of yet in Harris’ murder. But with this newfound information, he’s now tied to the crime as he allegedly delivered the eventual murder weapon.
“There’s nothing we could charge him with,” said Tuscaloosa chief deputy D.A. Paula Whitley. As for Alabama basketball head coach, Nate Oats, he had his share of statements when he spoke with reporters.
“We knew about that. Can’t control everything everybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen. College kids are out, Brand hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time.”
Coach Oats’ words did not sit well with the victim’s parents who blasted the university for the lack of punishment given to the players involved.
Alabama has had a successful basketball season thus far, and it’s tough knowing that a member of the team – who leads the team in scoring (18.7 ppg) – is dealing with allegations to this extent.
As of today, this story is developing.
