The Georgia Bureau of Investigation have announced that Gregory and Travis McMichael have been arrested and charged for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.
Arbery was shot and killed while jogging unarmed near Brunswick, Georgia on February 23rd after being followed by the two armed men.
A video of the pursuit and shooting surfaced this week, leading a public demand for justice by people across the country including celebrities, athletes, and politicians.
LeBron James, Michael B. Jordan and presidential candidate Joe Biden were among many who publicly expressed disappointment that the men were not arrested or charged since the incident.
The father and son were final taken into custody and held in jail May 7th.
According reports, the father, Gregory McMichaels, is an ex-cop and former investigator for local district attorneys’ office. It is widely suspected that this delayed the two men arrests.
