Apple TV+ announced the forthcoming release of “The Bloody Hundredth,” a documentary paying homage to the heroic efforts of the 100th Bomb Group, following the successful debut of its acclaimed series “Masters of the Air.” Narrated by Tom Hanks and produced by Playtone-Amblin, the documentary is set to premiere globally on Friday, March 15, 2024, on Apple TV+. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman, the hour-long feature is directed by Mark Herzog and Laurent Bouzereau, a long-time collaborator with Spielberg.
“The Bloody Hundredth” delves into the authentic narratives of characters and real-life aviators depicted in “Masters of the Air,” including John Egan, Gale Cleven, Harry Crosby, Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal, Frank Murphy, Alexander Jefferson, Richard Macon, alongside veterans John “Lucky” Luckadoo, Robert Wolf, and others. From the onset of Pearl Harbor to the jubilation of V Day, the documentary chronicles the trials and triumphs of a group of young Americans during their country’s pivotal moments.
