Chel’le continues the latest trend of artists who are bringing authentic RNB back to the forefront of music. Making related music is the key to success. With that said, her future is looking brighter every song.

When did you start performing?
I started performing when I was 12. I did a talent show in the middle of a very popular mall in Cleveland. I came in second place which was a big deal for me because it was my first time hitting a stage. I’ve always been a performer since a very young age, but had not taken on a large crowd by myself until then.

Name some artists who have inspired or influenced you?
Some artist that have inspired me would have to be Whitney Houston, Monica, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige Destiny’s Child, Selena, and Aaliyah. I taught myself how to sing listening to Monica’s “Just one of them days” and Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (shoop)”. I was determined to condition my voice to be able to go to any height. So these women for me were my vocal coaches.

How would you describe your style?
I’d like to say that my sound comes from a place of understanding and love. It’s r&b with a hint of hip-hop because i cant live without 808’s. It’s serious like me (lol), but its still a vibe. I write all my lyrics and for me music has always been therapy. I try very hard to help people get to know me through my music and understand how to better communicate with one another.

What separates you from other artists?
I would have to say what separates me from other artist is my approach. As an R&B singer and songwriter people expect me to take a certain route or they expect me to do things a certain way in order to make it but I’ve always prayed for my success to be that of my own and when I say that I mean that no human being can say they were the reason i am who and what i am when i reach the level of success i intend to reach.

Name major artists you have performed with.
I performed with and opened for Dizzy Wright, Switch, I opened for SWV, I’ve opened for Tamia as well as Young MA. I feel like I’m forgetting some artists but I’ve been grinding for a while so please forgive me.

Do you have any major offers on the table?
I have labels that are interested. I have taken a few meetings.Doors are opening and some situations are coming full circle. It’s looking pretty good for me I would say.

What advice would you offer other artists?
If I were to give another artist advice It would have to be make sure this is what you want to do because it takes a lot of work and can be very discouraging more times than not. But if you’re sure that its what you want to do go hard.
