The former President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, are expected to launch a podcast production company. After signing a deal with Netflix last year, they will be extending their company, Higher Ground Productions, from video to audio.
Through their partnership with Spotify, the couple’s company Higher Ground Audio will speak of a wide range of topics within their podcasts that connects them to listeners worldwide.
In a statement from Spotify, Mr. Obama stated “We’ve always believed in the value of entertaining, thought-provoking conversation. It helps us build connections with each other and open ourselves up to new ideas.”
Michelle Obama also added, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to amplify voices that are too often ignored or silenced altogether, and through Spotify, we can share those stories with the world.”
According to reports, the streaming service expects to invest an estimated $500 million in acquisitions for the podcast. There is currently no set release date for the first podcast.
