Chicago I’m Home comedian, Barry Brewer, announced that he will be producing The Next Generation of Standup, a new modern twist on stand-up comedy, on February 13, 2020 at the Chicago DuSable Museum, the perfect kick off to NBA All Star Weekend.
The Next Generation of Standup is a new show concept that brings back the nostalgia of urban culture, where people of color can express themselves visually and verbally through the art of comedy. Each episode will be 40 minutes long, highlighting 3 rising comics. The objective behind this show is to bring new and innovative content with a 90’s reminiscent twist that bridges the gap between young, urban culture, comedy and community.
“I’m excited to introduce to the world the next generation of stand-up comics that I think are very special. I wanted to create a show that brought back the nostalgia of Def Comedy Jam and BET Comic View but with a modern edge to it,” says Barry Brewer. “I want to develop a platform where comics who aren’t really recognized in urban communities have a voice on stage on my show.”
Barry Brewer has been featured in a number of stand-up comedy shows featuring Season 3 of Gabriel Iglesias Stand-Up Revolution, Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, All Def Comedy, BET’s Comic View, and Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes. Barry will produce two new pilot episodes that will be taped live at the DuSable Museum on February 13th from 7pm-9pm. Featured comics include:
