Black-Owned Meets Collegiate Sports: The First NCAA NIL Shoe Design Deal

Georgia defensive back, Julian Humphrey, is expected to have a breakout role after an “amazing offseason,” according to reports. It’s truly a comeback story. Humphrey was redshirted in his Freshman year and fell third on the depth chart this past Spring; behind Nyland Green and Daylen Everette.

Humphrey turned things around this off-season and is now anticipated to contribute significantly at cornerback.

“Julio [what his teammates call him] is actually having an amazing offseason. Really just sharpening the tools he already has. Great speed, a guy that comes into work, day-in, day-out. I’m really excited to see him help this team this year. He’s put in the work and he deserves an opportunity to play.” – Javon Bullard, Safety (Georgia)

To add to the anticipation and hype, Humphrey just secured a history-making, signature NIL shoe design deal with Black-owned company, the DIFFERENCE Inc.

Introducing “12K by the DIFFERENCE,” the shoe design encapsulates the essence of who Julian Humphrey is off and on the field, as a Black All-American athlete. Humphrey’s upbringing reshapes the narrative for Black athletes who grew up in a strong, supportive two-parent household. His success as a young athlete is rooted in dedication, family unity, and his undeniable talent despite the adversities he’s had to face.

“Julian’s influence extends beyond the gridiron, inspiring both seasoned athletes and those just finding their footing. Our patented heel-less design, catering even to diabetics, highlights our dedication to comprehensive wellness. Every DIFFERENCE shoe is a product of meticulous research, and embodies ‘Authentic Performance,’ underscoring the body’s inherent strength.
