In a surprising twist, Caleb Plant hit Jermall Charlo during the weigh-in for the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford fight on Saturday night.
The incident occurred as the two fighters were exchanging words backstage. Plant suddenly lunged at Charlo and landed a left hook to the face. Charlo was caught off guard and staggered backward.
Security quickly intervened and separated the two fighters. Plant was escorted out of the building, while Charlo was left visibly shaken.
According to Plant, the blow was retaliation for Charlo touching his beard an hour earlier.

It is possible that the altercation at the weigh-in was a way for Plant to get under Charlo’s skin and set up a future fight. However, it is also possible that the two fighters simply lost their cool and let their emotions get the best of them.
