Just in!
NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, just shared a statement from the Brooklyn Nets. According to the press release, the Nets have suspended Kyrie Irving five games, without pay, following a controversial week where Irving posted an antisemitic video on Twitter. What truly set the franchise off was Irving’s refusal to apologize.

Dubbed a “train wreck” of a press conference, Irving stood firm on his non-apology after he retweeted a post last week featuring an anti-Semitic movie. Irving refused to say sorry, he refused to deny anti-semitic beliefs and refused to say the Holocaust even occurred. The press conference was unfolding so badly that the Nets PR had to cut Irving off after just six minutes.
“I didn’t mean to cause any harm. I’m not the one that made the documentary.”
Kyrie took responsibility for the retweet but totally disregarded the need for an apology. Continuously, he would re-direct the conversation back to slavery in America and the racism Black people in this country have felt. Many thought his remarks were irrelevant to the situation at hand, but he did not back down. Nor fold.
He did, however, state, “I cannot be anti-Semitic if I know where I come from.”
