Comcast NBCUniversal Premieres Award-Winning Documentary Color

Comcast NBCUniversal has announced the exclusive premiere of Color, an award-winning documentary exploring the cultural significance and perception of color, now streaming on Black Experience on Xfinity and the Xumo Play free app.

Directed by multi-award-winning filmmaker John Campbell and featuring artist Alteronce Gumby, the 90-minute film takes viewers on a global journey, showcasing how color influences traditions and identity. Stops include Mardi Gras in New Orleans, India’s Holi Festival, the red sands of the Sahara, the crimson city of Marrakech, Morocco, and Alaska’s Northern Lights.

“Color is more than what meets the eye; it’s a language, a story waiting to be told in every corner of the world,” Campbell said.

The documentary also features insights from experts, including pigment specialist Michael Ambron, stylist Jerome Lamaar, marine ecologist Dr. Catherine Kim, and documentarian Shondiin Mayo.

Color has earned accolades from the Cine Paris Film Festival and International Independent Film Awards and was nominated for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.

This marks Campbell’s second collaboration with Comcast’s Black Experience on Xfinity, following Who’s Behind Black Art, a series highlighting the journeys of emerging Black artists.

“We’re proud to deepen our ongoing collaboration with director John Campbell as we explore the many dimensions of color and its profound impact on our daily lives,” said Loren Hudson, Comcast’s SVP and Chief Diversity Officer. “Through Black Experience on Xfinity, we aim to create a space where creators can share their unique perspectives, fostering meaningful connections with audiences everywhere.”

Black Experience on Xfinity is free for Xfinity customers via X1, Flex, and the Xfinity Stream app. Non-Xfinity customers can watch Color on the Xumo Play streaming app.
