Connecticut Downs Indiana, Caitlin Clark Struggles

Connecticut Sun’s powerhouse duo, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner put on a showcase in the season opener against Indiana Fever. Thomas recorded her 12th career triple-double while Bonner moved into fifth all-time in scoring in WNBA history! Leading the Fever in her rookie debut, Caitlin Clark led the team with 20 points, going 5-for-15 from the field. Proving that the W is at another level, the Sun forced Clark into 10 turnovers, marking the most turnovers in a game in Fever history! Welcome to the W, Caitlin.

Overall, the Sun forced Indiana into 25 turnovers, while shooting 48.5% from the field.

Sun guards, DiJonai Carrington and Ty Harris also made their first regular season starts for the Sun while notching 16 points each in the win. Brionna Jones added eight points, three rebounds, one steal and one block, contributing effective minutes, after missing 13 games last season with a torn Achilles.

As for the attendance, the Sun hosted a sold-out game, marking the first home opener sellout since the Sun’s first home opener in 2003. This follows the current upward trend of the W, overall, and we love to see it!
