According to various credible sources, Floyd Mayweather is looking to lock in another fight with Connor McGegor next year. If you recall, Mayweather earned his 50th career win, keeping his record untarnished, after defeating McGregor in 2017. He then retired from professional boxing after going 50-0. While he’s hung up his gloves, Mayweather has remained active, fighting in a series of exhibition matches; like his most recent against Logan Paul in 2020.
“I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment. So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.” – Mayweather
This Fall, he’s scheduled to square up against Japanese MMA fighter, Mikuru Sakura on Sunday, September 25th.
So, why the sudden urge for a rematch with McGregor? Well, apparently the Irish MMA fighter has been eyeing another bout for quite some time now. We assume he wants to redeem himself.
For McGregor, his return to the octagon has been at the center of discussions after his recent recovery from injury – after breaking his tibia against Dustin Poirer last year. His fans, however, don’t really see the need or point of another fight with Mayweather.
What are your thoughts? The reactions on social media have been mixed.

Boxing has is just a farce now with old pros who can't retire and Youtubers thinking they can fight. Add on top the ridiculous cost of PPVs and it's no wonder boxing is dying
