Clothing and lifestyle brand October’s Very Own (OVO), co-founded by Drake, has announced it will stop using real animal fur in its products. The decision comes after advocacy group PETA and its supporters sent over 100,000 emails urging the company to ban fur from rabbits, coyotes, and other animals.
In response to OVO’s decision, PETA is sending the company vegan chocolates shaped like bunnies.
“Fur belongs on the animals who were born in it, not on jackets and footwear,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA celebrates OVO’s decision to join the overwhelming majority of fashion and clothing businesses that are shunning the hideously cruel fur industry.”
PETA highlights the suffering endured by animals in the fur trade, noting that most live in cramped wire cages, pacing and mutilating themselves due to stress. Many are electrocuted, gassed, or poisoned, while wild animals caught in traps often endure days of pain before being killed.
OVO joins brands such as Canada Goose, Dolce & Gabbana, and Moncler in banning fur. PETA continues to push for similar commitments from other major companies, including LVMH.
