Dwayne Wade is standing his ground, and clapping back at his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade. Yesterday, Funches-Wade accused him of exploiting their transgender daughter, Zaya. She claims he did so when he applied for her legal name and gender to be changed.
Not taking the accusations lightly, Dwayne Wade took to Instagram to call his ex-wife out.
“Since this must be the new way of parenting, I guess I have to address these allegations here, which is a damn shame.”
Funches-Wade’s legal filing also alleges that Dwayne Wade’s intentions with their daughter were not pure – claiming he said that he “intended to make our child very famous due to the name and gender issue.”
“He informed me that a lot of money had been already made and that additional money will be made in relation to our child’s name and gender issue,” she continued. All of this just to say that she wishes for Zaya to be at “the age of majority” to attain a gender and name change.
Quickly learning of his ex-wife’s remarks, Wade wrote, “No one in our house would ever force Zaya or any of our children to do anything against their will, much less force an identity on them. This isn’t a game for my family and definitely not for Zaya. This is her life!”
Wade also makes his own allegations calling Funches-Wade an “absentee parent to Zaya.”
“Siohvaughn has decided to pretty much be an absent parent to Zaya ALL ON HER OWN,” he wrote. “I will not sit on my hands this time and allow her to make a mockery of my dedication to my family. The high road has run out of real estate.”
