Eddie Murphy Negotiating $70 million Deal with Netflix for Return to Stand-Up

After mentioning his desire to return to stand-up while appearing on ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,’ Eddie Murphy is reportedly negotiating a comeback to the stage with Netflix.

According to TMZ, the streaming company may be willing to offer the legendary comedian $70 million for an unknown number of comedy specials.

In the episode, Murphy discussed the possibility of him returning with fellow comedian, Jerry Seinfeld. “You know that you not doing stand-up drives people crazy — you know that, right?” Seinfeld stated.

“I’m going to do it again, everything just has to be right. You have to get up there and start working it out” Murphy replied. He also mentioned that the late Don Rickles urged him to return, just months before passing away in 2017.

The iconic comedian and ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum was at one time considered the biggest comic in the world. His 80s comedy specials, ‘Delirious’ and ‘Raw’ were massive hits and the last time that he took to the stage.

Before the release of the Martin Scorsese classic, ‘Goodfellas,’ Murphy’s ‘Raw’ held the highest-count title for including the ‘F’ word in a theatrically released film.
