To ring in the new year, ESPN will air FOUR nationally televised NBA games in the first week of 2023! The new year’s action commences Wednesday, January 4, as the Milwaukee Bucks visit the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 PM ET. Mark Jones will provide commentary along with analysts, Richard Jefferson and JJ Redick. Taking on live reporting duties will be Rosalyn Gold-Onwude.
At 10 PM, the Los Angeles Lakers will host the Miami Heat as all-stars LeBron James and Jimmy Butler face off. Mike Breen will be calling the action along with analysts, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, and reporter, Jorge Sedano.
Later in the week, ESPN will host more NBA action on Friday, January 6. Tied for the Western Conference’s best record, the New Orleans Pelicans and Zion Williamson host the Brooklyn Nets. The game broadcast begins at 7:30 PM and will feature a play-by-play by Dave Pasch, and analysts Doris Burke and reporter Cassidy Hubbarth. To close out the evening, the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns will tip off at 10 PM EST. Mark Jones will be calling the game along with analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, with Jorge Sedano reporting once again.
NBA Countdown, ESPN’s NBA pregame show, will precede both the Wednesday and Friday doubleheaders with 30-minute telecasts starting at 7 p.m. The all-star cast of Mike Greenberg, Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, Jalen Rose and Adrian Wojnarowski will preview all the action and tackle the top storylines from around the league.
