Jayles and Skells have not only made their mark in music as the the collective underground act Poor Rich Kids, but with their website Ashes & Drinks, they are prepared to change the game from the media side of the board.

Why launch AshesandDrinks.com?
Initially, when we launched Ashes And Drinks, we wanted to give the artist of upstate NY and surrounding areas a voice and a place where they could showcase there talent. After we did our research and looking into it, there wasn’t an outlet that was specifically dedicated to this, so we figured somebody has got to do it. So we did,.. for a while. When it first launched we had artist that had no idea that the upstate NY music scene was as big as it is. We used to tell them, you should link up with so and so,.. they were like who? Couple of days or weeks later we see they would connect some how on social media. So, it was and still is, a good place for artist to link. We think every artist that made an impact on the scene is on the site some where.

What was it about the name that stuck out to you?
Ashes And Drinks was a mixtape that dropped a while back. We were finishing that project up and was surrounded by cigarettes/blunt ashes and empty beer bottles from long nights of working on it. So the name just came,. it wasn’t something that we thought about deeply it just happened. Plus, for many it’s a lifestyle.

How does your site set itself apart from other urban media outlets?
Ashes And Drinks not only gives you music, news and entertainment but every Friday we have a segment called “A&D Drink Of The Night’ were we try out new drinks,. weather its mix drinks, beer, wine and give you the recipe for them while letting you know our “hit and misses’ on each particular one. We will also be trying out different cigars and smoking products also. But where not like all the other blogs cause you can actually reach out and get in touch with us. We listen to everything that gets sent into our emails, so nothing goes over looked.

Describe your mission statement.
To provide growth for artist, hip hop, and like minded individuals. We play on delivering superior content, along with our commitment and the quality we bring to the site.

What has been the best and worst experiences so far?
The best experience so far is getting know artist from the underground to the mainstream, personally. Plus the interviews with some of our favorites. We never thought that would happen, but it has opened a lot of doors for us. The worst part would be there is no rest. At all, the music and news happens all the time and to stay on top of that is a full time job. Some people don’t do see how much work goes into keeping and maintaining a site on a daily bases, so it goes over looked. But we are dedicated, so eventually the world will fully understand more about A&D.

Do you have any advice to offer other entrepreneurs?
Yeah, If you believe in something, whatever it is just continue to work. It all starts from an idea you just have to manifest that idea and keep going till people can’t deny it. The world doesn’t know what they want, you have to show them and hope they will adjust. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
