The family of George Floyd, a man who killed by police officers in Minneapolis, has filed a $250 million lawsuit against Kanye West for comments he made on the Drink Champs podcast.
During the taping of the episode, the troubled creative disputed the confirmed cause of death, seemingly blaming Floyd’s use of drugs for his death.
Four former police officers were charged and convicted for his death including Derek Chauvin who was captured on video kneeling on Floyd’s neck for over 8.5 minutes.
Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. went on an apology tour in response to backlash from West’s George Floyd comments and anti-Semitic remarks. This follows his social media posts where he appears to brag about the amount of streams the episode has garnered.
The mother of George Floyd’s daughter, Roxie Washington, is alleging that Kanye West is making the controversial and offensive “false statements about George Floyd’s death to promote his brands, and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners, and associates.”
At press time, the Kanye West episode has been removed from streaming platforms.
