Grammy Winner Samara Joy Auditions for Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”

The prospect of a live-action version Disney’s The Princess and the Frog has many of the world’s favorite singers shooting their shot to play its first Black princess, Tiana.

Two-time Grammy-winner Samara Joy is the latest singer to post a live audition on Instagram in hopes of landing the part with her performance of the animated film’s “Almost There”.

Joy, a Bronx native who recently won the Best New Artist category at this year’s awards, decided on a jazz rendition of the song, consistent with the genre of music where she built her career.

The 23-year-old singer has been earned a great deal of support from fans and celebrities alike with captivating performances on several platforms including on NBC’s on NBC’s Today Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS Mornings, the Jennifer Hudson Show and the Drew Barrymore Show.

Her latest project Linger Awhile is now streaming on all major platforms via Verve Records.
