Hennessy Teams With Nas to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

One of the most prolific hip-hop artists of all time, Nas, is teaming up with legendary cognac brand, Hennessy, to celebrate the past fifty years of this beautiful and unifying culture.

On July 20th, 2023, Nas and Hennessy will come together to announce the launch of the limited edition ‘HenNASsy’ bottle. This invite-only event will be an interactive digital mapping presentation that will display the journey of Hip-hop culture. 

It will also feature, ‘Hennessy AI.bum covers’, and AI-led experience which transforms your selfies into album-covers inspired by iconic time periods in hip-hop.

Hip-hop has become one of the most popular forms of art in America. Its creation occurred in the New York City borough of the Bronx in the early 1970s. Spearheaded by the Black and Afro-Latino Communities, other groups would soon become a part of this growing art form. Over time, hip-hop became more of a culture, including graffiti, deejaying, and breakdancing.

Hip-hop, originally carrying a tone of anti-drug and anti-violence, received little to no coverage from radio or television due to lack of funds and the overall negative perception of anything coming from the “hood”. As time progressed, the genre became less centered around anti-violence and anti-drug themes and became an avenue of expression for anyone in this disenfranchised area. 

To truly encapsulate the essence of this ever-growing staple genre, Hennessey has enlisted the help of Renell Medrano; an esteemed street photographer who has reached the highest levels of high-fashion editorials by staying true to her roots as a Dominican woman in the Bronx.

Hennessy, Medrano, and Nas worked together to create a narrative film that will include imagery of the new limited-edition bottle.

“It means a lot to me to celebrate this legendary moment in Hip Hop history with Hennessy, a brand that has supported me for over 10 years,” confesses the legendary rapper, “Hennessy is part of our culture and continues to inspire generations of Hip Hop fans, so I’m really proud to share our new Limited-Edition bottle with the world.”

Hennessy and hip-hop are heavily intertwined. You can hear this brand name-dropped in the biggest artists’ songs from Snoop Dogg and 2pac, to Drake and Kanye West. There is no better pairing for the celebration of half a decade of the most innovative genre of all time.
