Let us introduce you to one of the most creative photogs on the east coast. Aisha Allen’s body of work is simply breathtaking and fresher than a mouthful of Altoids. (Photo of Asia Sparks, shot by Aisha Allen.)

Tell us what inspired you to become a photographer?
I’ve always loved looking at different works of art, revisiting great memories through a photo and creating my own perception of what different images meant which ultimately inspired me to pick up a camera and start creating images of my own. It became a creative outlet for me.

Did you partake in any formal training? If so what school(s) did you attend?
I didn’t take any formal training in photography. I learned a lot from mentors, youtube, and experience.

How would you describe your style of photography?
I would describe my style of photography as edgy editorial. I l look at it as my own personal genre 🙂 I like putting a person in edgy scenery that might have one thinking “where was that shot at”? I like to keep people guessing how far I will go for a dope shot.

What is your favorite ensemble of equipment?
My canon and 50mm are my favorite. It just feels right.

Do you have a brand preference between Canon and Nikon?
I love Canons although I wouldn’t turn away a Nikon.

Where has you worked been published?
My work has been featured in art showcases, raw artist website and Phenomanalmag.com.

In regards of aspiring photographers, do you have any advice that you would like to offer?
I would say to aspiring photographers don’t be afraid to experiment and create. It’s okay to think outside of the box when you’re creating an image because not every client wants there image to look like something they’ve already scene. A lot of photographers focus on what type of body they should buy but also focus on using different lenses. Certain lenses can make or break your shot.
