Actor Jamie Foxx required stitches after a physical altercation during his birthday dinner at a Beverly Hills restaurant on Friday, his spokesperson confirmed.
When the incident occurred, Foxx, the Oscar-winning star of Ray and Django Unchained, was celebrating his 57th birthday at Mr. Chow, a high-end Chinese restaurant on the 300 block of North Camden Drive.
Beverly Hills Police responded to the restaurant at approximately 10:10 p.m. following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. However, officers determined the initial report was unfounded. Instead, they discovered a physical altercation had taken place between the two parties. Authorities have not disclosed what led to the confrontation or provided details about those involved.
According to Foxx’s spokesperson, a glass was thrown by someone at another table, striking the actor in the mouth. “Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering,” the spokesperson said. “The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
It remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Foxx, who recently opened up about a brain bleed and stroke that led to his lengthy hospitalization in 2023, addressed the situation on social media Sunday.
“The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” he wrote in an Instagram post accompanied by a photo.
Foxx’s representatives declined to comment further. Police said no additional information was available.
