MTV announced on Tuesday that Jennifer Lopez will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.
The award show is set to air live in Radio City Music Hall of New York on August 20, where the singer will perform for the first time since 2001.
Iconic artists have won the award, such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Madonna, and many more.
Lopez expressed her excitement through a humble statement during a Facebook Live stream:
“I grew up in the MTV era. I was watching all the way back from Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna and Janet [Jackson] and Michael [Jackson], all of them. They were my inspirations to get into the music business, to do what I did. Their videos inspired me to do the videos I did. Now, to be 20 years in and here and winning this award, it’s just mind blowing.”
The “Dinero” singer is also nominated for two awards including best Latin Music Video.
Let’s see how Lopez shuts down the stage after her big return.
