After a successful two-year Spotify exclusive contract, Joe Budden of the Joe Budden Podcast has announced to his fans that he will be taking his talents elsewhere after concerns of being “undermined and undervalued”.
Unable to come to an agreement to extend their business relationship, Budden took to his show to express his disappointment with the streaming service.
According to Spotify, they offered a significant raise that reflected his market value. However, through the lens of Joe Budden, the offer did not mirror his contribution to the success of Spotify’s podcast branch.
Alongside the announcement, Joe Budden promised his audience to maintain ownership of his brand. He has shown his support and has been profoundly in favor of artists controlling their craft.
He has been a long-time an advocate for creatives becoming independent and free of corporate control.
Budden revealed Spotify further attempted to obtain partnership of not only his podcast, but all of his involvements in media as well.
In his most recent episode, which aired Wednesday, August 26th, Budden acknowledged the questionable future of the Joe Budden Podcast.
Although left with countless questions, fans can rest assured September will be the last month his podcast will be exclusive to Spotify.
