Late Rapper Nipsey Hussle was Due to Play Snoop Dogg in All Eyez on Me

On Wednesday, director Benny Boom sat down with Too Fab, and informed them that late rapper Nipsey Hussle was the first option for the role of Snoop Dogg in the Tupac biopic “All Eyez on Me.”

“Nipsey was supposed to play Snoop… we wanted him to play Snoop in All Eyez On Me. We didn’t have any other person that we wanted to play him” Boom said during the interview. Hussle was approached about the role, however, declined due to scheduling conflicts with his music.

Hussle, who was well-known for his work in the community, was fatally gunned down in front of his shop, The Marathon, earlier this year. He was recently honored at the 2019 BET Awards, where his family accepted the Humanitarian Award on his behalf.

Boom continued, “It’s crazy because I didn’t realize, as much as I knew Nipsey — I didn’t realize how much he was driving things in his community. And to take him out of L.A. for that amount of time that we needed to come to Atlanta where we shot would’ve just thrown him off his square a little bit. Just the timing didn’t work out.”

He also mentioned that the slain rapper refused to let anything complicate his efforts for his community.

Hussle was reportedly supposed to star in the new CW series, All American. The show stars Demetrius Shipp Jr, who played Shakur in “All Eyez on Me.” Boom introduced the late rapper to the producers of the show, where he was offered a role as a Crenshaw gang leader.
