One of Jay-Z’s classic albums and arguably his best body of work, The Blueprint, was recently added to the Library of Congress’ esteemed collection, the national registry.
His sixth album, The Blueprint was the first part of a three-part series and featured incredible songs including the Nas/Mobb Deep diss track “Takeover”, “Song Cry”, “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)” and the Eminem collabo “Renegade”.
“The National Recording Registry honors the music that enriches our souls, the voices that tell our stories, and the sounds that mirror our lives. The Library of Congress and its many collaborators are working to preserve these sounds and moments in time, which reflect our past, present and future,” explains Congress Librarian, Carla Hayden.
The Great One joins Cyndi Lauper, and Cab Calloway on the list of year’s entries. Previous artists added include Nina Simone, Curtis Mayfield, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and The Jackson Five.
