At the age of nine, River Mason Eromosele is more accomplished than entertainers more than twice his age. The son of internationally renown stylist and entertainment exec Pilar Scratch and nephew of hip hop icon Rah Digga, he has been featured in a long list of commercials, print ads, and television shows. On top of that, you can add published author with the release of his first book, “The Sky Is The Limit”.
You have made quite the name for yourself at such an early age, how do you balance it all?
Hi guys, thank you for having me. It is such a honor. I balance it all by having a lot of faith in God. I also have an amazing momanger, Pilar Scratch. We are an awesome duo. My mom is big on time management so I’ve hand-written my schedule in my daily planner just to remain on time and on top of everything I’m involved with.
After being in so many commercials, fashion shows, and television/film roles, what would you say is the most fun part of acting for you?
The most enjoyable part about my career is being able to travel. My mother, Pilar scratch & I travel a lot. I believe we’ve been to nearly 35 out of the 50 states. I also enjoy meeting other amazing creative kids like myself. To be able to witness others pursue their dreams in the arts & go far is very inspiring.
Your aunt is hip-hop pioneer Rah Digga, how do you feel living up to the legacy she has left in the entertainment industry?
My auntie Rah has left an amazing footprint. She’s an icon. My aunt is such a positive and vast influence in not only the entertainment industry but also she’s a staple for the culture. We’re talking about a lyricist and intellect that scored a 1340 on her SAT. It’s a heavy footprint to follow. I feel I am doing an amazing job with making not only my aunt proud but my mother and father too.
How did you feel the first time you saw yourself on television?
The first time I saw myself on television I was excited. It was a cool experience. I was able to tell all my teachers and friends in school to watch me too.
You have worked with two EGOT winners Rita Moreno & John Legend, how was the experience?
Yes! I have worked with two EGOT winners. Both experiences with Mrs. Moreno and John Legend were amazing. Janice Torres of Brand Phoenix merged the dynamic of me exclusively walking Rita Moreno down the red carpet at the Bronx Children’s Museum. She told my mom “”I had it” and “Big things are coming to him.”
Working with John Legend on the set of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” was awesome. The project came last second. We almost didn’t accept the gig. I was booked through my mom’s Instagram page from a video of me doing the “Orange Justice” dance at a car wash while trick or treating. However, John and the entire production was so amazing. It was great. It’s a classic song and video.
During downtime on the set, how do you fill the time?
In between takes, I’m usually doing homework or classwork with my mom or the SAGA assigned tutor. It’s limited free time when filming sometimes.
You are also an author so tell us what inspired you to write your first book “The Sky Is The Limit”.
The inspiration for my children’s book “The Sky Is The Limit” came from my mom. My mother and I have had daily affirmations that we practice since I was a kid. We also meditate and earth/ground for thirty minutes daily. One day, I told my mom that I wanted to teach other children how to meditate and use the law of attraction for manifestation. The rest is history.
With everything going on during this pandemic, how is the lockdown affecting you?
The COVID-19 pandemic has frozen a lot of my projects. Not being able to go to school, see my friends, and be able to work… sucks. I cannot wait to get back to my normal life.
It’s very obvious that you enjoy what you do. Share with us the best part and worst part of stardom.
I really do enjoy what I do. The best part is seeing myself on television. I work so hard on my set. The outcome of the project is always the best part for me .
The worst part of stardom is that it can become overwhelming sometimes. A lot of strangers stop to speak to us. That can be scary but it is great for the most part.
Name some of your favorite musical artists.
Drake is absolutely my favorite music artist. I really like the group Surfaces, they’re so positive. Their music is very upbeat.
What can we expect from you in the immediate future?
As soon as COVID is over, I’m filming with a major network. Cross your fingers, everything is still up in the air. You can keep up with me and all my latest projects at www.Rivermasoneromosele.com and instagram: RiverMason_
