Tennis star, Naomi Osaka, has set social media ablaze after announcing her pregnancy with boyfriend, and rapper Cordae! The two started dating back in 2019, and to our surprise, we later learned that Cordae confessed to being unaware of Osaka’s level of sports stardom.
“It’s not my sport. If you asked me about tennis, before being immersed in it because of Naomi, I could only give you Venus and Serena Williams, you know? Because they’re just part of the culture,” he shared in a previous interview. He also revealed that the pair had been dating for almost a year before they made a public reveal. “We kind of move very reclusively. We don’t really post intimate moments, because I feel as though they’re sacred.”

Agreed, Cordae. However, this pregnancy announcement is major! And it’s beautiful to see them sharing the moment with their fans this time around. As for Osaka’s future in tennis? The elite athlete shared that she plans to return to the sport she loves next year – just in time for the Grand Slam season in Melbourne.
“2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me, and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely,” Osaka wrote.

For Naomi, 2022 was quite the year, receiving backlash for her performance, after embarking on various business endeavors. With her company, Hana Kuma, Naomi took on an audiovisual production project, launched her own sports management agency, and even wrote her first comic book, “The Way Champs Play.” Never short of ambition, these were all passion projects that became businesses and she has every right to pursue these ventures.
The former world No. 1, who won both the Australian and US Open, twin, isn’t just defined by the sport she loves. She, too, is human like the rest of us. And this pregnancy announcement is further proof of that. Congrats Naomi!
