Pitbull Celebrates Immigrant Heritage Month with Release of New Video

Pitbull

In partnership with Welcome.us, Pitbull released a video PSA yesterday to celebrate the 2nd annual Immigrant Heritage Month, which ran throughout the month of June 2015. Armando Christian Perez, better known as Pitbull, is the multi-platinum recording artist whose spectacular career of international hits spans over a decade.

Famously proud of his hometown of Miami, Pitbull is the son of Cuban expatriates who settled there.

In the video, Pitbull speaks from the heart about the value his family has always placed on hard work, their positivity even in the face of having to leave their home country, and how his Cuban roots have influenced all of his music.

“[My parents] knew that this country, what it had to offer, was that you could control your own destiny. You had opportunity, and you had the number one thing, which is freedom. We are all immigrants at the end of the day – whether you’re first, second, third, fourth, fifth generation – and the reason we’re the most powerful nation in the world is because we all came here with a dream. We all came here wanting better for our lives, for our families’ lives, and just wanted to create something better.”
