Released on August 1st, visual artist Rick Williams, Distinct Life and the iconic Detroit rap group Slum Village have collaborated on The Fabric of Hip-Hop: Slum Village Fantastic Volume 2 shoe and apparel collection as a part of Distinct Life’s ‘Detroit Inspires the World Series.’
This collection celebrates Detroit’s impact on Hip-Hop and pays tribute to Slum Village’s album, Fantastic Vol. 2.
The limited edition assortment consists of two t-shirts and a custom pair of classic Puma suedes, with branding from Slum Village’s Fantastic Vol. 2 album and Distinct Life’s signature Horizon camo designed by Williams on the shoe’s insole, back and lace tips.
Not only is the special collection a celebration of Detroit’s cultural legacy, but it is a testament to the enduring influence of Hip-Hop music and its ability to transcend boundaries between music, fashion, and art worldwide.
The Fabric of Hip-Hop: Slum Village Fantastic Volume 2 collection arrives on the heels of the release of Slum Village’s new single “Just Like You”, featuring Bay Area emcee Larry June and old school Detroit Soul ensemble The Dramatics. The single serves as the lead single from Slum Village’s currently untitled forthcoming album, which will be the group’s first new full-length project in over eight years.
