Rapper Remy Ma has reacted to her son’s arrest, maintaining his innocence and requesting a thorough investigation by the NYPD. Speaking to TMZ, Remy Ma said, “We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.”
Remy Ma’s son, JaySon Scott, is represented by attorney Dawn Florio. Via Florio’s law office, Remy Ma added, “As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”
JaySon Scott and another man are accused of first-degree murder and are currently in police custody.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ Hip Hop that on June 7, 2021, at approximately 12:58 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at the intersection of 148th Street and Rockaway Boulevard in Queens. Officers discovered Darius Guillebeaux lying unresponsive on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Emergency medical services transported Guillebeaux to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Guillebeaux had previously been described as an “alleged drug kingpin” in local reports.
According to law enforcement, JaySon Scott, 23, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of weapons possession, and reckless endangerment in connection to the 2021 killing.
Investigators believe Scott and the other arrested man are responsible for Guillebeaux’s death and are also probing the possibility that it was a hired hit.
