NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, reported that Michael Jordan is in the final stages of selling his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets. The news comes as a surprise given that Jordan has been a majority owner for the past 13 years! Hornets Sports & Entertainment later shared a press release confirming Woj’s Tweet. With the franchise up for grabs, prospective buyers were named in the press release including North Carolina native, J. Cole, and Eric Church.
Other members of the new potential Hornets ownership group, as reported, include Dan Sundheim, Ian Loring, Amy Levine Dawson, and Damian Mills. While the price tag of the sale was not initially announced, the number is reportedly in the billions.

“In the same way that it’s wonderful that one of our greatest, Michael Jordan, could become the principal governor of a team, he has the absolute right to sell at the same time. Values have gone up a lot since he bought that team, so that is his decision.” – NBA Commissioner Adam Silver
