Florida’s governor is back at it again. This time, Ron DeSantis has decided to release a video parody of a classic Bud Light commercial, “Real Men of Genius.” The DeSantis version, “Real Men of Women’s Sports, takes aim at transgender female athletes, causing quite a stir on social media. His visual antics dropped just days after Riley Gaines, who advocates against transgenders in women’s sports, was met with violence by protestors at San Francisco State University.
Specifically calling out Bud Light in his parody was also no random act. The feud with the beer company all began when Bud Light partnered with a prominent transgender social media influencer, Mulvaney, while promoting March Madness. This move, without a doubt, enraged conservative critics.
“Today we recognize the men who hacked the system. Once mediocre in the men’s division, now the cream of the crop in the women’s. You couldn’t cut it with the boys, so you pushed women off the podium. Because without you, sports would be fair. Without you, women’s sports would be for well, women.”
In Florida, girls play girls’ sports and boys play boys’ sports.

Note From Our Sports Editor: While we, at Urban Magazine, remain neutral in our stance on this subject matter, one thing is certainly clear – Florida will forever be Florida (we all know what I’m saying when I say this), and there will always be opposition to what isn’t considered the “norm.” We’re all for equality, yes, and surely this is a controversial topic, but let’s remember that we are all human. We can be sensitive and empathetic for others while not being in agreement with what they believe in, stand for, or live by.
