Sha’Carri Richardson Silences Critics, Sets New World Record

“Never allow media, never allow outsiders, never allow anything but yourself and your faith define who you are.”

After setting a new 100-meter record, Sha’Carri Richardson is officially the fastest woman in the world. Richardson has truly risen to the occasion after getting the boot from Team USA in 2021 for her use of marijuana. The critics were relentless in their chastising of the track star up until this past Monday’s 100-meter race in Budapest. Proving all of her doubters wrong, and completely silencing all of the naysayers, Richardson won her first-ever title at the World Athletics Championships – she even set a new world record!

“Honestly, I don’t even know what to say. It’s surreal. I think in the morning I’ll probably feel it,” Richardson told the NYT.

It might be hard to fathom that a 23-year-old could accomplish such a feat, but Richardson did that! After serving her 30-day suspension in 2021, after testing positive for marijuana, Richardson promised that she’d be back and even better! She definitely made good on her promise. And we’re here for it.

“I would say ‘never give up. Always fight. No matter what, fight,’” Richardson told the Associated Press.

As if ripping off her signature wig during her 100-meter final win at the USATF Outdoor Championships last month wasn’t a bold statement in itself, this record-breaking, championship is truly her shining moment. Sha’Carri Richardson is that girl!
