Trevor Jackson, star of the forthcoming re-imagining of the 1972 classic film Superfly, covers the new May issue of Urban Magazine.
In a feature written by Editor-in-Chief Dakari Eli, the 21-year-old actor discusses the pressure of being the leading man in a remake of cultural classic film, his role on the breakaway Black-ish and more.
“I prepared in a way of just trying to find within myself that I was afraid of but also I was very cool with. I tried to blend the two worlds. Somebody that you wanted to be friends with and never wanted to be enemies with. I tried to make my transit like that, like the Robert Deniro’s and Denzel’s, like a mafia vibe. That is what I was going for a little bit.”
Also featured in this month’s issue is Tiffany Campbell of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, Dontae Jareel, MDOT, Antoinette Thomas, Phy Baker, and Mitzi Michele.
Superfly arrives in theaters across the country on June 15th. Read the newest issue of Urban Magazine below.
