R&B singer Summer Walker celebrated the upcoming anniversary of her debut mixtape, Last Day of Summer, by giving back to her community through her initiative “Buy Black Women Sh*t.”
The event, held on September 22 — the last day of summer — highlighted a range of Black women-owned businesses in Atlanta that focus on self-care. Fans were treated to discounts and products from participating businesses such as City Dogz, The Secret Garden, Sati Yoga & Wellness, and more. The initiative, which Walker first launched in 2022, is designed to support and promote Black women entrepreneurs.
This year, the event partnered with LVRN Cares, the charitable arm of her record label, LVRN (Love Renaissance), which focuses on helping underrepresented communities. A full list of participating businesses will remain available on Walker’s website until September 22, 2025.
Walker’s mixtape, Last Day of Summer, was released in October 2018 and became a major success, featuring the multi-platinum hit “Girls Need Love.” The remix of the song with Drake reached No. 2 on the Hot R&B chart and broke into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2024, Walker’s third EP, Clear 2: Soft Life, earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. She also received two NAACP Image Award nominations for her collaboration with Usher and 21 Savage on the song “Good Good.” The track was also nominated for Best R&B Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Walker continues to be a powerful voice in music and a champion for her community, using her platform to support Black women entrepreneurs and promote self-care. For more information on her initiative and participating businesses, visit her official website.
